Where We Work

Since 1992, Action for Relief and Development Assistance (AFREDA) has been transforming communities across Tanzania. Working alongside local communities, international donors, NGOs, and government partners, we implement programs that empower people, strengthen livelihoods, and promote sustainable development.

Our approach is holistic we combine agriculture, climate action, health, education, and human rights programs to address the root causes of poverty and vulnerability.

Our Reach Across Tanzania

Northern & Lake Zone

  • Mara Region: Conflict resolution workshops, women’s income-generating projects, and support for children in difficult circumstances.
  • Kagera Region: Women’s economic empowerment and youth development initiatives.
  • Ngara & Rombo Districts: Entrepreneurship programs for women.

Central Tanzania

  • Dodoma & Singida (Mkalama, Majawanga): Integrated rural development and food security initiatives.
  • Gairo & Kilosa Districts (Morogoro Region): Food security programs, women’s income-generating activities, and conflict resolution between farmers and pastoralists.

Coastal Zone & Zanzibar

  • Bagamoyo District: Support for AIDS orphans and vulnerable households.
  • Tanga & Lindi Regions: Agriculture, climate change resilience, food security, and community health programs.
  • Zanzibar: Strengthening youth and NGO capacity.

Southern Highlands & Western Tanzania

  • Rukwa Region: NGO capacity building and leadership development.
  • Meatu District: Women’s empowerment projects.

Currently, AFREDA is actively implementing programs in Lindi and Tanga Regions, focusing on agriculture, climate change adaptation, food security, income generation, and community health. These initiatives empower farmers, women, and youth while promoting sustainable environmental practices and improved well-being for local communities.
